Thirteen Ways of Looking at a TV

I

A vehicle of fun, rectangle of
Entertainment, a TV enchants
Everyone.

II

Portal to the imagination,
Creativity, and expression,
A TV is the creator's dreams
Come to life in technicolor.

III

Made of buttons, wires,
And plastic, conducting electrons,
Thousands of pixels merging into
A coherent image, a TV is a
Very complex machine.

IV

To a recluse, a hermit, a deserted life,
The only means of escape.

V

Collector of lives, of news, of death,
Chronicling history,
Exposing the horrors, and the joys
Of the world.

VI

There are many kinds of windows,
Many different views,
A TV is a window.

VII

A TV is a spaceship to other worlds.

VIII

Mirroring the lives we lead,
Mocking us in insincere imitation,
Fake people and fake lives,
Fame homes and fake jobs,
A poor copy of real life.

IX

An empty decoration upon a stand,
Mindless babblings from an inhuman
Machine, to be started at blankly.

X

Baby-sitting small children for near nothing,
Except running up the electricity
Bill. An indifferent companion.

XI

A TV provides a comforting sound
In a still night.

XII

Scary to small children, terrifying to adults,
Sending chills down the spine,
Snake-like shivers.

XIII

A mystery to a caveman who wandered into
The wrong century.
